The PD Ports Group is proud to announce it has been short listed for four prestigious port and logistics awards within the space of one week.

Two weeks ago, the ports and logistics company was short listed by leading container industry publication Containerisation International (CI) for its Terminal Operator of the Year Award, Port Authority of the Year Award and Investment in People Award.

In the same week, PD Ports was also short listed by the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) for its Development of People Award.

David Robinson, Chief Executive of PD Ports Group, said: “To be short listed for these four prestigious awards is a real honour.

“We pride ourselves on our Group wide training and development programmes and have heavily invested in developing our container services at our Teesport facility, so its great that our efforts are being recognised by such a well respected organisation and publication.”

PD Ports was short listed for CI’s Terminal Operator of the Year Award and Port Authority of the Year Award for the investments it has made in Teesport to significantly upgrade its container terminal and other facilities to ensure the flow of cargo is fast and seamless.

Meanwhile, it has improved productivity with the arrival of new cranes, benefiting shipping lines, road operators and shippers.

The company was short listed in CI’s Investment in People and CILT’s Development of People Award for its investment of more than £4 million in training, development and recruitment programmes in recent years.

This includes the development of a safety improvement scheme that has significantly reduced accident rates, the implementation of an apprentice scheme and the launch of a recruitment scheme designed to get the long term unemployed back to work.

PD Ports has already won one prestigious accolade this year when retailer ASDA presented the company with its Carrier of the Year 2012 award in March.

Yet another GONG for the company and a chance for Mr Robinson to have his face plastered in the news paper and all over the internet. Yet the lads who are out there earning the awards/gongs go unnoticed AGAIN. How long will the company just keep dismissing it workforce? The company would not be here with out us, we are the vital component. Yet they still can't say thank you..! Why is this?
It's because they are out of touch with the workforce and modern legislation, they are still living in the past and how things used to work then. They say the company is moving forward, "away from the dark ages". But it is them who are stuck in the dark ages. When is enough, enough? You decide._

After a long hard fight our brothers at Tilbury have managed to resolve their issues around the introduction of "FLEXIBLE" working. After several walk outs, unexpected help from our brothers in EUROPE numerous ballots and a lot of negotiating. They have managed to get a deal that suits THEM, whilst also been able to meet the company needs. It's a WIN WIN situation. This shows that SOLIDARITY, perseverance and negotiating pays off.  WELL DONE TILBURY

Lets keep this in mind when we come to our next hurdle in OUR fight against "FLEXIBLE" working.

The terminal has reopened its gates at 6am this morning. Things got off to a slow start after a lot of teething problems over the weekend and this morning. All members involved are working hard and flat out to clear the back log. To all members involved, keep up the good work and grab the overtime...

As from 6pm on Friday the 6th July TCT will close its gates to all outside traffic. The gates will reopen again at 6am on Monday 9th of July. For those that don't know, TCT will be changing its computer system. The time given will allow the NAVIS team to set up and get ready for "GO LIVE" on Monday morning.
Good luck to all employee's who are involved.. (Your going to need it.!)
